DJI released their new Mavic a little while ago with huge announcements about the use of a Hasselblad camera (Hasselblad are renowned for making some of the finest cameras in the world!) and employing a full 1″ sensor in the camera.
It now seems that the sensor is not being used in its optimal mode and, whilst it is a 1″ sensor, it is seeming, to some, to be delivering 2.7K resolution, rather than the 4K expected.
The stills images appear to be very good, but there is a growing disappointment in the video quality.
When DJI released the first Mavics they were a game-changer in the drone market, and the new Mavic 2 Pro looked set to take this to even higher levels.
Let’s hope that the issue gets resolved soon for all those that bought the drone.
Meanwhile, at Unmanned Images, we use the DJI Phantom 4 Pro v2.0 for most of our work, and this is using a full 1″ sensor to produce crystal-clear video and pin-sharp stills images.
